hi everyone,

I’ve started a new business called Our Music Classroom.

Basically we provide music movement enrichment classes to Preschools, Kindergartens, and International Schools. Check out our website  – www.ourmusicclassroom.com.sg

We will also be starting some classes on Sundays!!! Ms Doreen (a very reputable, experienced and passionate teacher) will be taking the classes. Do send us an email at info@ourmusicclassroom.com.sg if you are interested in signing up! 😉

Best,

Lavina

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your patience in waiting for the revival of Kids’ Loft. I have been swarmed with work (lecturing duties) and liaising with the rental place  for Kids’ Loft. Unfortunately, the place that I intended to lease for the Saturday classes fell through yesterday after months of negotiation. Thus I am unable to proceed with the plan to begin classes in February. I will scout for another location after Chinese New Year and keep you posted.

Thank you once again for your support and patience.

Best,
Lavina

HELLO my dear friends,

I just finished  conducting a workshop for parents on reading aloud to children at The Esplanade. Hmmmm…..everytime after I conduct a workshop – I miss my little playschool.

SO …. here is the plan :

Feb 2012 – restart Kids’ Loft on a smaller scale. I am in talks with a friend to lease her space on Saturday mornings to run some classes. As her space is not very big, it would mean that I will need to revise my programme. I am looking into a 60-min class for toddlers 15 months to 3 years old. In the 60 mins, the activities include Storytime, Music & Movement plus Zoo Phonics. Maximum of 8 children per class. Tentative $40 per session.

Will you be interested? If Yes, share with me your thoughts on this new programme and put your child’s name on my waitlist , ok? Email to me at kidsloft@gmail.com
This programme is basically for toddlers who must at least turn 15 months in Feb 2012.

Another programme in the pipeline will be my Literacy Class. My literacy class is rather different from other programmes available elsewhere. I will not guarantee that your child can read, but I can guarantee that your child will love stories and storybooks. It is a 75-min class (max. 4 children), tentative $50 per session and activities include storytime, oxford reading tree reading programme, phonics, and occasional lapbooks 😉 This class is for children who will be in K1 and K2 next year (2012). I will conduct this in my home at Jalan Jurong Kechil (near toh tuck road). 😉

Ok…that’s the news for now……cross my fingers and hope my friend will let me lease her place once a week on Saturday!

cheers,

Lavina

Dear friends,

It was a sad day for our family on 22 March this year when we lost my parents’ first born to cancer, my only sister.  She was 40 and had lived in the States with her family.  Between the time of diagnosis to her passing was a mere two months.  We were not given enough time to react and sadly, we did not even get a chance to say our final goodbye – we were 4 hours too late in getting to her.  She left behind 4 children, the youngest of whom is less than a year old.

And now, my sister-in-law is undergoing chemotherapy for ovarian cancer and a dear friend is awaiting treatment for womb cancer.  As I witness first hand the devastating effect of chemotherapy on cancer patients and it’s psychological effects on the families, I started to look around for a way to help.

In honour of my sister and those bravely battling the illness, I have signed up with Hair for Hope 2011and their cause.  On Sunday (July 24) at Vivo City noontime, I will be shaving my head bald to raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Foundation.  Initially, I was hesitant about this seemingly extreme move; aesthetically, I am not sure how I will look bald.  But when I think of the sufferings of these patients and their families; the physical pain, the financial burden, the uncertain future — I am happy to be sacrificing my long locks for a noble cause – to support the cancer patients and to increase awareness of this dreaded disease.

It is my fervent hope that I can raise $20,000 from pledges by people moved by my sincerity.  A little gesture goes a very long way and no amount is too small.  Pledges can be received online at the following website – http://www.hairforhope.org.sg/index.php?/shavee/idetails/2120

(You may also go to Hair for Hope website www.hairforhope.org.sg – look under “individual shavee – Lavina” to help make a small contribution.)

Remember, every little effort goes a long way to help light the lives of someone fighting for their lives.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU 😉

Sincerely,

Lavina Chong

Dear friends,

Sorry for being out of action for such a long time.

Many things has happened in the past few months. I lost my only sister to cancer in the first quarter of the year and it has been difficult coping with the loss.

I’m back at lecturing – teaching teachers who wants to be certified as early childhood educators.

I do miss teaching little toddlers ALOT but the present rental market just doesn’t seem to look too affordable for me.

I am trying to source for locations that are willing to let me rent by the hour but yet have a decent space for me to conduct my class. (You know how picky I am with space!)

I will update once I can find one.

In the meantime, do take good care of yourself and your family.

Stay positive, cheerful and most importantly HAPPY.

Cheers

Lavina

dear friends

Guess everyone’s still wondering on when is kids’ loft starting again……sigh! I’m still scouting for  a nice location….nothing at this point in time.

I wish I can tell you when but I really have no clue……now I’m exploring other possibilities.

Will keep you in the loop once I can finalize any thing

Have a Merry christmas and Happy holidays!!!

hi everyone

Juggling with three kids is definitely quite a challenge especially with my firstborn presently in the local PRIMARY ONE system!!!

I am still trying to work out my schedule and looking for a location to conduct a handful of classes. I will probably be trying to start three classes – one on weekday morning (likely wednesday) and two classes on saturday mornings.

If you are interested, please send me your name, your child’s name and date of birth plus your preferred day of class – I will put you on my waiting list.

I’m not sure the commencement date of the classes but I’m hoping for the last quarter of this year (earliest) or next year (latest). 😉

Thanks for your support!!!

cheers

Dear parents

I would like to inform you that I’ve decided to take an early maternity break as my gynae advised me to do so (I just met with him today, thus the late notice). I will likely birth in early to mid Feb (which is just a few weeks’ time).  I would sincerely like to thank you for your support of Kids’ Loft and my programme.

Sincerely
Lavina Chong
